Doctor Arrested in Rivers for Kidnapping three Children from Benue

A medical doctor has been arrested by the police in Rivers State for allegedly kidnapping three children from Benue State. The children were found in his custody in Rumuokoro, Port Harcourt, following an alert from the Benue State Police Command.

According to a statement by the Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sewuese Anene, the command received a report on Monday from one Godwin Kpaakpa of Wurukum, Makurdi, that his two children, Philomena and Benedict, aged six and two respectively, had gone missing. The command launched an investigation and sent a signal to all police commands in the country.

The statement said that on October 20, the Rivers State Police Command informed them that they had rescued three children from a medical doctor during an operation in Rumuokoro. The children were identified as Philomena and Benedict Kpaakpa, and Godsgift Julius, whose parents are yet to be found.

The statement said that a team of detectives from Benue State went to Rivers State to identify the children and take necessary actions. The statement added that Philomena and Benedict have been reunited with their family, while Godsgift is still in the custody of the police.

The statement said that the medical doctor is being interrogated by the Rivers State Police Command and efforts are being made to track down his accomplices in Benue State. The statement also advised parents to be vigilant and watch over their children to prevent them from falling prey to human traffickers.
