Two Killed,One Kidnapped As Gunmen Attacks Ora Community In Kwara

Two women were reportedly kidnapped and one person killed when an unidentified group of gunmen broke into the Ora Community in the Kwara State local government area.

Around 8:45 p.m. on Saturday, the kidnappers allegedly invaded the neighborhood in large numbers, firing randomly to frighten bystanders before robbing them of their victims.

Community sources explained that the kidnappers took off with two POS operators, killing one while injuring the spouse of the victim, who was attempting to save her.

”It happened on Saturday evening around 8.45 p.m. Two females were captured, and a child was also allegedly killed in the process.”

“Since last night, precisely around 11:30 pm, soldiers arrived in the Ora vicinity to maintain peace and are already combing surrounding bushes to fish out the criminals and rescue their victims”.

“At this point, we sincerely wish to appreciate the prompt response to the SOS message sent to the state authority on the incident. We pray the efforts are successful.” The source informed The Punch.

Olajide Asonibare, the chairman of the Transition Implementation Committee of Ifelodun Local Government Area, verified the occurrence and stated that more than a hundred soldiers, police officers, hunters, and vigilantes had been called upon to search the forest for potential rescuers.

The event was also confirmed on Sunday by SP Okasanmi Ajayi, the spokesman for the Kwara State Police Command.

“The command, in conjunction with other security agencies, including the vigilantes and hunters, is in a hot search to rescue the victims. We are also looking forward to arresting the abductors,” he said.
