In a significant triumph, former President Donald Trump secured victory in Michigan’s Republican primary, soundly defeating his closest contender, Nikki Haley, in yet another electoral showdown.
This win marks Trump’s fifth consecutive victory, showcasing his dominance amidst a diminishing GOP field, as reported by RT.
With approximately half of the votes tallied on Tuesday evening, Trump amassed over 67% of the vote, overwhelming Haley’s 27% in a landslide victory.
The Associated Press declared Trump the winner around 9 pm local time, as he surged ahead early in key counties like Oakland.
Addressing his anticipated triumph, Trump asserted that winning Michigan meant securing victory overall, while criticizing Democrats for what he deemed their detrimental impact on the state’s auto industry, according to his campaign statements.
Trump’s success in Michigan mirrors his previous triumphs in Republican contests across Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada, and even in Haley’s home state of South Carolina, where she formerly served as governor.

Meanwhile, in the Democratic primary held on the same day, President Biden claimed a decisive victory in Michigan, securing over 80% of the vote with 43% of ballots counted, significantly surpassing rivals Marianne Williamson (3%) and Dean Phillips (2.8%).
Nevertheless, Biden faced notable opposition within his party, as thousands of Michigan Democrats opted for the “Uncommitted” option, registering a significant protest against Biden’s policies, placing it second only to Biden himself.
Michigan hosts the largest Arab-American community in the United States, primarily centered in Dearborn. Local party activists in this community strongly criticized Biden’s stance on Israel amid its protracted conflict in Gaza.
Mayor of Dearborn Abdullah Hammoud, who voted “Uncommitted” and had previously declined to meet with Biden because of his views on Israel, stated, “We are using this opportunity as a means to send a message.”
The Palestinian-American representative for Michigan, Rashida Tlaib, stated that she was “proud” to vote “uncommitted,” adding, “This is the way we can use our democracy to say ‘listen,’ when 74 percent of Democrats in Michigan support a cease-fire [in Gaza], yet President Biden is not hearing us.”
Echoing concerns from her party’s left side, Tlaib has regularly criticized Israel’s operation in Gaza and accused Biden of backing “the genocide of the Palestinian people.”
Nearly 30,000 Gazans have perished as a result of Israeli shelling, which was initiated in retaliation for a deadly Hamas terrorist attack that occurred in October, according to local health experts.
In the unexpected attack, around 1100 Israelis were killed, and over 250 were captured by Palestinian militants.
