JUST IN: FG Declares Wednesday Public Holiday to Mark Democracy Day

The Federal Government has announced that Wednesday, June 12, will be a public holiday to celebrate this year’s Democracy Day.

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, extended his congratulations to Nigerians on this occasion in a statement released on Tuesday by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Aishetu Ndayako.

The statement partly read, “As we mark another Democracy Day in the history of our dear country, let us all reflect on the efforts of our founding fathers and ensure that Nigeria remains a united, secured, peaceful and indivisible entity.”

He urged Nigerians to remain committed to the principles of democratic governance.

Tunji-Ojo also emphasized that Bola Tinubu is dedicated to implementing positive reforms to revive the nation’s economy and improve security, which is yet to be seen by Nigerians.

“The minister also called on Nigerians and friends of Nigeria to appreciate the progress made so far and to look forward to a brighter future for Nigeria’s democracy,” the statement added.
