Four people were confirmed injured and hospitalized on Wednesday after a small plane made an emergency landing on a South Texas street, colliding with three cars, according to authorities.
The crash captured in a video shared on X by @DallasTexasTV, which occurred around 3 p.m. in Victoria, left three individuals with non-life-threatening injuries, while the fourth was transported to a different facility for more advanced care, police reported.
The pilot is undergoing evaluation, Victoria police stated during a press conference Wednesday afternoon.
The plane landed on Mockingbird Lane, near a feeder road to Zac Lentz Parkway (State Highway Loop 463) in Victoria, a city located about 85 miles north of Corpus Christi.
“We are glad that it wasn’t worse than what it is. This is not something we see every day,” Deputy Police Chief Eline Moya told reporters. “But we are glad that people seem to be OK, and they are getting checked out.”
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the aircraft was a twin-engine Piper PA-31, with only the pilot onboard. Images from the scene revealed the plane split in half near a highway overpass.
A video posted on social media captured the twin-engine plane flying at a dangerously low altitude before making a landing on a street. In emergencies, planes in distress sometimes make forced landings on streets or highways.
