In a concerted effort to eliminate the persistent challenge of street trading in Lagos, operatives from the Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) and the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) took decisive action on Tuesday, dislodging street traders around Aunty Kenny in the Agric area of Ikorodu.

The move is part of a broader strategy to maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards street trading in the state.

The Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources issued a statement highlighting the dislodgement, stating, “Operatives from LAGESC/KAI on Tuesday dislodged recalcitrant street traders on the kerb at Aunty Kenny Agric on Ikorodu Road as part of measures to sustain the zero tolerance for street trading.”

Similar enforcement operations were carried out on Monday at various locations, including Oshodi-Mushin Road, Ojuelegba Road, Yaba-Muritala Muhammed Way, Oyingbo under the newly constructed bridge, inner and outer Marina-CMS, Victoria Island, and Lekki areas. These actions were undertaken following directives from the commissioner in the ministry, Tokunbo Wahab.

During the enforcement, numerous defaulters were apprehended and subsequently taken to the LAGESC/KAI headquarters for interrogation and prosecution.

The commissioner emphasized the need for sustained efforts to prevent the traders from returning to the cleared areas, issuing directives to LAGESC/KAI operatives and other related agencies to uphold the dislodgment measures. #Ikorodu
