AFCON: ‘He Plays With Passion,’ Ghanaian Legend Asamoah Gyan Praises Osimhen

Nigeria’s star striker Victor Osimhen has received glowing compliments from Ghanaian legend Asamoah Gyan for his passionate performance in the Super Eagles’ 2-0 victory over Cameroon at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Osimhen, who is the reigning African Footballer of the Year, was instrumental in Nigeria’s win over their arch-rivals in the round of 16.

He set up Ademola Lookman for the opening goal and was pivotal throughout the game with boisterous display and enthusiasm in the field of play.

Gyan, who is Ghana’s all-time leading scorer and a former AFCON runner-up, took to social media to express his admiration for Osimhen’s display. “Osimhen plays with passion. That’s what every country wants their players to do,” he wrote.

Osimhen, who has overcome a difficult start to his career in Europe, has become one of the most sought-after strikers in the world.

He has also emerged as the leader of Nigeria’s attack, following in the footsteps of legendary figures like Rashidi Yekini and Nwankwo Kanu.

The 25-year-old who has only scored a goal in the tournament so far has been a handful for opposition defenders, with great runs and aerial dominance which have helped Nigeria reach the quarter-finals, where they will face Angola on Friday.

Osimhen’s passion and talent have earned him the respect and admiration of fans and peers alike, as he continues to shine for club and country.
