Ibadan Court Orders Detention of Two Men for Alleged Murder

Ibadan

In a recent development at the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, two men, Shamsun Mohammed and Ya’u Yinusa, both aged 25, have been remanded in custody at a local correctional facility on charges of murder.

The accused, whose residential details remain undisclosed, face allegations of conspiracy and the unlawful killing of 25-year-old Usman Umaru. The incident, which took place on November 22 at approximately 4 pm in the Bodija area of Ibadan, involved the fatal stabbing of Umaru with a shard of glass.

Magistrate Mrs. S. Zubair, presiding over the case, declined to take the defendants’ pleas, citing the court’s lack of jurisdiction over the matter. She has directed that the case file be forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.
