Following recent political developments in Rivers State, Governor Siminalayi Fubara took decisive action by convening a security council meeting at the Government House in Port Harcourt.

The closed-door session, held on Tuesday, gathered heads of security agencies to address mounting tensions and threats to public order.

After the meeting, Governor Fubara addressed the press, underscoring the state government’s unwavering commitment to preserving peace and order.

“We have instructed local government heads to assume control pending further directives,” he stated.

Expressing apprehension over reported intrusions at local government council secretariats, Governor Fubara reiterated the state’s resolve to uphold stability amidst the current challenges.

“It’s very unfortunate that we started hearing some disturbing news from some local governments about the invasion of their council secretariat,” he said.

He also highlighted the presence of adversaries with ulterior motives, declaring, “We are also aware that our enemy is also planning a lot of things. We will not go into a place where we will allow them to destroy the state.”
