Kaduna State Speaker Warns El-Rufai’s Son Against Intimidation Amid Probe

The Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Honorable Yusuf Liman, has issued a stern warning to Bello El-Rufai, son of the former governor of the state, Nasir El-Rufai, cautioning against any attempts to intimidate or threaten the legislative body concerning the ongoing investigation into his father’s eight-year tenure in office.

Honorable Liman expressed deep concern over alleged insulting and subtly threatening messages sent via WhatsApp by Bello, who also serves as a member representing Kaduna North in the House of Representatives.

This statement was disclosed in a release to journalists on Wednesday by the Media Aide to the Speaker, Malam Suraj Bamalli.

The Kaduna State House of Assembly recently formed a committee to scrutinize financial transactions, loans, grants, and project executions spanning from 2015 to 2023 during the tenure of former governor El-Rufai.

In addition, the Speaker highlighted Bello’s purported use of social media, specifically two tweets, which were interpreted as inciting conflict and showing disrespect toward all members of the Kaduna State House of Assembly.

“Shortly after the establishment of a committee to investigate financial dealings, loans, grants, and project implementation from 2015-2023 in Kaduna State, Honorable Bello El-Rufai took to social media with two tweets, now deleted, insinuating a call to “fight” and disrespecting the entire Legislative Arm of Government.
