Katsina Government Adds Friday as Public Holiday for Eid-el-Fitr

The Katsina State Government has announced that Friday, April 12, 2024, will be observed as a non-working day across the state in celebration of Eid-el-Fitr, marking the conclusion of Ramadan fasting.

Governor Dikko Radda conveyed this decision through a statement signed by him and disseminated to journalists by the state Commissioner for Information and Culture, Bala Zango, on Tuesday.

Governor Radda highlighted that the additional holiday was instituted to enable workers in the state to fully engage in the Sallah festivities alongside their families.

This declaration follows the Federal Government’s extension of the Eid-el-Fitr public holidays to Thursday, April 11.

Titled ‘Eid-Fitr: Gov Dikko Radda declares Friday, 12th April, 2024, work-free day’, the statement affirmed, “His Excellency the Executive Governor of Katsina State, Dikko Umar Radda, has declared Friday, April 12, 2024, a work-free day.

“Katsina State Government’s decision to declare Friday as a free day follows the good gesture of the Federal Government for extending Ed-fitr public holidays to Thursday, 11th of this month.

“According to Malam Dikko Radda, his government has also taken this step to enable workers in the state to fully enjoy the Eid-el-Fitr Sallah celebration with their families.

“Gov Radda then wishes the good people of Katsina state a happy and peaceful Sallah celebration. He further urged people to be security conscious and pray for peace to reign in the state and the nation at large as they celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Fitr

The governor further urged the residents of the state to prioritise security and pray for peace to prevail in the state and the entire nation during the festivity.
