A chilling scene unfolded on Atiku Abubakar Way in Uyo as residents were awakened by a gruesome act of violence. A 25-year-old man, identified only as Elisha, stands accused of the brutal murder of his girlfriend in their own home.

The tragedy struck at approximately 7 am in a residential compound near Beaulah International Nursery and Primary Schools in uyo. Shock and disbelief gripped the community as news of the heinous crime spread, drawing a crowd of onlookers and impeding traffic flow.

Details surrounding the motive remain unclear, but eyewitnesses recount a harrowing tale of domestic strife turned deadly. According to reports, the fatal altercation erupted between Elisha and his girlfriend, said to be a nurse, shortly after they entered their room.

An anonymous source within the compound provided a chilling account of the events leading to the grisly outcome: “They got into the room and a few minutes later they were heard beating each other as both of them were struggling.” Despite attempts by concerned neighbors to intervene, the violence escalated unchecked.

The source continued, “An aged woman in the compound… advised the boy to stop the beating but he refused… Before others could arrive at the compound, the boy had already killed the girl and cut her into pieces.”

In a desperate bid to evade capture, Elisha retreated into the ceiling of the room, where he was eventually apprehended by law enforcement officers. The lifeless body of the victim, whose identity remains withheld, was discovered amidst the horror.

Authorities swiftly responded to the scene, with armed police officers dispatched to restore order and commence investigations. The Akwa Ibom State Police Command confirmed the arrest of the suspect and assured the public of a thorough inquiry into the disturbing incident.

Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Timfon John, affirmed, “The suspect has been arrested and the command has commenced investigation into the murder already and in the next couple of days we will unravel the matter.”#uyo
