NAFDAC Sanctions Pizza Outlets in Abuja for Using Expired Ingredients

The FCT Directorate of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has taken action against two pizza outlets in the FCT for the use of expired dough blend seasoning.

Ozigis Abdulsalam, the FCT director of NAFDAC, disclosed this in a statement issued in Abuja on Friday.

Abdulsalam revealed that based on intelligence information, the FCT department of NAFDAC conducted inspections on pizza outlets, uncovering that two of them were utilizing expired dough blend seasoning.

The NAFDAC official emphasized that the use of expired ingredients, along with deep ham slices in pizza preparation, constitutes a disregard for best practices and poses potential risks to food safety and public health.

Abdulsalam further mentioned that the seized ingredients were confiscated, and the company in question faced penalties. Additionally, the company is required to provide an undertaking promising not to engage in such practices in the future.
