Members of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly convened on Friday to unanimously elect Danladi Jatau, the representative of Kokona West Constituency, as the new Speaker of the House.
The position of Deputy Speaker was similarly filled by Mohammed Oyanki, a member representing Doma North Constituency.
These appointments come in the wake of the recent removal of the former Speaker, Ibrahim Abdullahi, as ruled by the Appeal Court in Abuja on Tuesday.
In a move aimed at maintaining peace within the assembly, the newly elected Speaker, Jatau, who is a member of the All Progressives Congress, collaborated with Oyanki, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, to secure leadership positions.
