JUST IN: NCC Announces Plans to Bar Glo Subscribers From Calling MTN Lines

In an announcement made on Monday through a public notice signed by Reuben Muoka, Director of the Public Affairs Department, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) revealed the possibility of Globacom subscribers facing difficulties in making calls to MTN lines in the near future, due to the non-settlement of interconnect charges.

The NCC disclosed that it has granted partial approval for the disconnection of Globacom from MTN Nigeria Communications Plc.

According to the notice, “Globacom was notified of the application made by MTN and was given the opportunity to comment and state its case. The Commission, having examined the application and circumstances surrounding the indebtedness, determined that Globacom does not have sufficient or justifiable reason for non-payment of the interconnect charges.”

The NCC further disclosed that after 10 days from the date of the notice, subscribers of Globacom may no longer be able to initiate calls to MTN numbers, although they will still be able to receive calls.

However, the partial disconnection will permit in-bound calls to the Globacom network to continue.
