No Single Borehole Should Cost More Than N10 Million — Peter Obi Insists Amid Tinubu's Govt Approval of N192M For One Unit of Borehole

The 2023 Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has raised concerns over the approval of N192 Million by Nigerian Senate as the cost of constructing a single unit of borehole.

He expressed scepticism regarding the exorbitant amounts allocated for borehole projects, insisting that no single Borehole should cost more than N10Million.

He made this statement during an online X Space, tagged, Citizens Engagement with Peter Obi on #PeterobiOnParallelFacts.

He emphasized his disbelief, stating, “I don’t think digging any single borehole will cost more than N10million.

“Anybody constructing a single borehole for N190 Million must be constructing a special borehole,” he added.

His remarks come amidst revelations of significant budget allocations for borehole projects by the Nigerian government. Notably, the Nigerian Senate recently approved a budget of N82.5 billion for the construction of 427 boreholes, averaging approximately N193 million per borehole.
