The Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) has allocated N500 million in Nigeria’s 2026 Appropriation Bill for the construction of a dedicated hangar for presidential aircraft.
This provision, is intended to house, service, and protect high-value jets within the Presidential Air Fleet.
The fleet, managed operationally by the Nigerian Air Force on behalf of the Presidency, supports official state travels and functions.
The N500 million hangar project forms part of a larger allocation for aviation-related spending tied to the Presidential Air Fleet.
Broader breakdowns indicate significant funding in this area, including separate reports of up to N238 billion proposed for overall operations and logistics of the presidential air fleet in the 2026 fiscal year.
Other related line items in the presidential-related spending include N873 million earmarked for local travels by the president and N1.3 billion for foreign trips by the vice president.
The N58.18 trillion 2026 budget, titled “Budget of Consolidation, Renewed Resilience and Shared Prosperity,” was presented by Bola Tinubu to the National Assembly in December 2025.
It emphasises priorities such as security (with N5.41 trillion allocated to defence and related areas), infrastructure, ward-based development, and economic stabilisation amid ongoing reforms.

The hangar allocation has drawn criticism online and in public discourse, with many Nigerians questioning the priority given to elite aviation infrastructure at a time of persistent economic pressures, high food inflation, insecurity in parts of the country, and demands for improved public services like healthcare, education, and rural roads.
Critics argue that such spending reinforces perceptions of disconnect between government priorities and the hardships faced by ordinary citizens, even as official statements highlight macroeconomic gains, including GDP growth of 3.98% in Q3 2025 and a decline in inflation to 14.45% by November 2025.
No official response from the Office of the NSA or the presidency had been issued specifically addressing the hangar allocation as of mid-January 2026.
