NYSC Penalizes 35 Corps Members in Bayelsa; Extends Service for 21, Orders 14 to Repeat Programme

In Bayelsa State, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) took disciplinary action against 35 Corps members from the 2023 Batch A, Stream II service year for violating the service code.

According to reports, 21 had their service extended, while 14 were mandated to repeat their service year due to various offenses.

The NYSC also announced the honorable discharge of 1,075 Corps members who satisfactorily completed their service year and were issued certificates of national service.

The low-key presentation ceremony, overseen by the State Coordinator, Mrs. Okpalifo Obiageli Charity, commended the corps members for their invaluable contributions to the state during their tenure.

Mrs. Charity extended gratitude to the corps employers, traditional rulers, and host communities for providing a conducive environment for the service of the corps members.

Additionally, she acknowledged the exceptional performance of certain individuals during their service year, rewarding them with certificates of commendation.

As the ceremony concluded, Mrs. Charity encouraged the corps members to leverage the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) training programs for self-reliance and job creation.

She expressed gratitude to the NYSC staff for their guidance and support throughout the service year.
