Ogboni Fraternity Seeks FG’s Approval to Practice Traditional Medicine

The Ogboni Aborigine Fraternity Worldwide has made an appeal to the federal government, seeking approval to practice traditional medicine.

The Chairman of the fraternity, Oba Jacob Orisamika, conveyed this appeal during end-of-the-year prayers held at Igbemo-Ekiti in Irepodun/Ifelodun LGA of Ekiti on Sunday.

Oba Orisamika highlighted the purpose of the prayers, stating that they were organized to seek long life, prosperity, and unity for its members globally. He described the Ogboni Aborigine fraternity as an organization committed to peace, unity, and the development of its members without discrimination.

While acknowledging that governments are aware of their fraternity, Oba Orisamika emphasized the need for official recognition similar to that accorded to Christianity and Islam.

He specifically requested government approval for the fraternity to engage in traditional medicine, expressing the desire to contribute to improving medical practices and addressing insecurity in Nigeria through their traditional gifts and powers.

The Aare of Ogboni Aborigine in Ekiti, Idowu Adesina, reiterated the fraternity’s commitment to fostering unity among its members and ensuring that none engages in unwholesome acts. He emphasized the fraternity’s readiness to align with the government to promote Nigeria’s growth and development.

Adesina also sought to dispel misconceptions, stating that the Ogboni Aborigine fraternity is dedicated to truth, honesty, and unity, distinguishing itself from what he referred to as mere occultic societies. He urged Nigerians not to harbor hostility towards members of the fraternity, emphasizing that they are peace-loving and kind-hearted individuals.

Additionally, the fraternity’s Olori Apenna and Oluwo Alakoso, Chiefs Kazeem Suleiman and Olowookere Ifalaye, commended the leaders for organizing prayers for members and the state.
