Pastor Arrested for Killing Pregnant Wife in Ekiti

A pastor, Abiodun Sunday Oluwadare, also known as Ara-ina, has been arrested by the Ekiti State Police Command for allegedly killing his eight-month pregnant wife, Tosin Oluwadare, in Ido-Ile Ekiti over the weekend.

According to the police, the suspect, who claimed to be a former notorious herbalist, was posted to a popular Christ Apostolic Church in Ori Oke Ido Mountain in Ekiti West, where he had been expelled before, for kidnapping a child.

The police said the suspected Pastor strangled his wife, who was a health worker, and attempted to flee with her corpse for the evacuation of the foetus in her womb without the consent of her parents. He was intercepted by some residents at Ita-Ido and handed over to the police.

The deceased, who was the only child of her mother, was legally married to the suspect and had two children for him. The mother of the deceased is said to be in coma since the incident.

The Olojudo of Ido-Ile, Oba Aderemi Obaleye, condemned the incident and called for a thorough investigation and prosecution of the culprit. He said the incident nearly caused a riot in the town as the youth protested against the pastor.

The police spokesperson in the state, ASP Sunday Abutu, confirmed the incident and said the suspect would be charged to court soon. He appealed to the public to remain calm and assured them that justice would be done.
