Pandemonium erupted at the Ladoke Akintola University Of Technology (LAUTECH) in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, on Monday following reports of a police officer fatally shooting a student and injuring two others.
The unfortunate incident unfolded when the yet-to-be-identified police officer was called upon to intervene in a dispute between two individuals within the university premises.
In the course of attempting to mediate the altercation, the officer purportedly discharged his firearm into the air, inadvertently striking one student and causing injuries to two others.
The situation resulted to students at the institution reacting vehemently, locking the school gates in protest and demanding justice for the deceased. The situation rapidly escalated into a riot on the campus grounds.

In response to inquiries, SP Adewale Osifeso, the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer told Daily Post that he’s unavailable for immediate comment, promising to provide further details at a later time.
