Rivers State Police Command has arrested a pregnant woman identified as Godday Blessing for allegedly stabbing another woman, Imeran Idema, to death over a bunch of plantain allegedly stolen by the former.

This incident is said to have happened in Adada community in the Abua/Odual Local Government Area of the state.

Blessing, 32, a mother of nine, reportedly stabbed Idema for trying to stop her from fleeing with a bunch of plantain she allegedly stole from a plantation.

According to reports, while searching for food for her children, Blessing allegedly stole plantain from Idema’s family plantation. When confronted by Idema, who was guarding the plantation, an argument broke out; the situation later escalated as Blessing refused to return the stolen plantain, leading to a violent struggle.

During the heated struggle, Blessing was allegedly injured in the leg by Idema with a cutlass, which prevented her from fleeing further. However, Blessing dropped the bunch of plantain out of rage and attacked Idema with her cutlass, wounding her repeatedly.

She later reportedly abandoned the plantain and ran away when she noticed that Idema was severely wounded from the injuries she inflicted on her.

Idema, however, is said to have drawn the attention of other family members with her scream, who then hurried her to the hospital where she died.

However, before her death, Idema was able to narrate her encounter with Blessing to her family members who rushed to the police station to file a report.

The eight-month pregnant blessing was subsequently arrested.
