Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in Edo State mobilized a significant demonstration in Benin City on Monday, denouncing the prevailing economic challenges facing Nigerians.
Protesters, brandishing placards with messages such as “End Economic Hardship” and “FG End the Hunger in Nigeria Now,” voiced their discontent during the march.
This wave of protests in Benin City, Edo follows similar expressions of dissatisfaction in Ibadan and Lagos, where residents voiced concerns over escalating food prices and the exorbitant cost of living.
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) recently declared its intent to initiate a nationwide protest starting tomorrow.

The NLC’s decision to protest stems from the alleged government’s failure to implement agreements reached on October 2, 2023, subsequent to the removal of the fuel subsidy.
The 14-day ultimatum issued by the NLC to address the widespread hardship has galvanized various groups and individuals, leading to peaceful demonstrations nationwide.
