Rivers: Group Arrests Man for Defiling Underage Boy

Members of a local vigilante group in the Okujagu community in Trans-Amadi, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, arrested Chigozie Okpara, a suspected homosexual, on Sunday.

He was apprehended for allegedly having carnal knowledge of an underage boy.

Reports said that the man usually lured his unsuspecting victims with food and snacks into his house before defiling them.

During questioning by the vigilante group, an individual, speaking anonymously, disclosed that the man confessed and identified himself as homosexual and admitted to engaging in such behavior while residing in Lagos State before moving to Port Harcourt two years prior.

It was reported that his luck ran out while he was engaged in an intimate act with one of his victims, who began screaming in his room. The commotion drew the attention of nearby residents, who then alerted the vigilante group.

The source said one of the vigilantes narrated how they picked the suspect, saying, “He lured the boy into his house and was doing the thing and the boy was screaming.

“So that was how they called our (vigilante) attention, and we went there and broke into the house and saw them (the man and his victim).

“That night, we took him and handed him over to the police. He is in police custody now.”

When reached for comment, Grace Iringe-Koko, the spokesperson of the state police command and a Superintendent of Police, verified the incident, affirming that the suspect, who is currently detained, will face prosecution.

“Yes, I can confirm the incident. The suspect has been apprehended and is currently in our custody,” stated Iringe-Koko.

“Investigations are underway, and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal and Intelligence Department. We are committed to ensuring that the suspect faces legal consequences.”
