Former Kaduna central lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, has shed light on why Kano and Jigawa states remain insulated from terrorist attacks, amid a recent surge in banditry in the region.
According to a report by Politics Nigeria, Kano and Jigawa states have notably avoided bandit or terrorist attacks in recent times, prompting Sani to provide insights into the factors contributing to their security.
In a tweet on Monday, Sani attributed the security resilience of both states to the substantial investments made by their former and present administrations in securing the regions.
He also highlighted the proactive response of residents in Kano and Jigawa states to potential security threats, emphasizing their vigilance in detecting and addressing suspicious activities.
Sani’s remarks come in the wake of heightened security concerns following the recent abduction of over 280 students in Kaduna state by bandits.
While Kaduna grapples with insecurity challenges, Kano and Jigawa have managed to maintain relative stability, showcasing the effectiveness of strategic security measures and community engagement in countering threats.
Sani stated, “The two states in the North West of Nigeria that have become protected or insulated from terrorists and bandits attacks are Kano and Jigawa States.
“The basic reasons for these are;the security investments made by their former and present Governments and the proactive and prompt response of the residents in those states to any blink of suspicious security threats or movements.”
