In a recent press release, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia expressed deep concern over the escalating violence between Palestinian factions and Israeli occupation forces. The situation, described as unprecedented, has led to heightened tensions on several fronts.
The Saudi government has called for an immediate cessation of hostilities, urging both sides to exercise restraint and ensure the protection of civilians. In the words of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, “The Kingdom calls for an immediate halt to the escalation between the two sides, the protection of civilians, and restraint.”
The Kingdom has previously warned about the potential for such a situation to arise due to the ongoing occupation and systematic provocations against Palestinian sanctities. The press release stated, “The Kingdom recalls its repeated warnings of the dangers of the explosion of the situation as a result of the continued occupation, the deprivation of the Palestinian people of their legitimate rights, and the repetition of systematic provocations against its sanctities.”
Saudi Arabia has reiterated its call for the international community to take responsibility and initiate a credible peace process. The proposed solution involves the establishment of two states, which they believe is key to achieving lasting peace and security in the region. The Ministry emphasized this point by stating, “The Kingdom renews the call of the international community to assume its responsibilities and activate a credible peace process that leads to the two-state solution to achieve security and peace in the region and protect civilians.”
The press release was issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on 7 October 2023 / 22 Rabi’ al Awwal 1445.
