Pastor Muyiwa Joseph of Christ Testament Church in Ilorin has urged Nigerians to prioritize prayer for the country’s leadership rather than resorting to criticism.
Speaking to journalists in Ilorin on Saturday, Mr. Joseph, a cleric, emphasized the importance of offering prayers instead of casting curses upon leaders.
“Let us pray for our leaders and refrain from cursing them. They are human beings, and nobody is perfect,” the cleric remarked.
Highlighting the prevalence of negative discourse surrounding the nation’s leadership, Mr. Joseph urged people to seek divine intervention and guidance for leaders to perform their duties with excellence.

“We should seek God’s intervention for them to govern effectively, for God to touch their hearts and lead them to perform excellently,” he stressed.
Drawing a comparison with American practices, the clergyman encouraged Nigerians to emulate the habit of praying for their leadership.
Additionally, Mr. Joseph called upon religious leaders to desist from inciting the public against the government and instead set a positive example by interceding for the masses.
“Religious leaders must exhibit politeness and serve as intercessors on behalf of the people for the emergence of a new Nigeria,” he concluded.
