Student Jailed for Stealing Solar Panel in Jos

A 23-year-old student, David Longji, has been sentenced to three months imprisonment by a court in Jos, Plateau State capital, for stealing a solar panel from a company.

The judge, Mr. Shawomi Bokkos, pronounced the sentence on Friday after Longji pleaded guilty to theft.

He also gave him the option to pay N20,000 as a fine.

According to the Prosecution Counsel, Insp. Ibrahim Gokwat, the case was reported on October 16 at the Anglo-Jos Police Station by one Livinus James, the complainant.

He said the convict was caught while trying to sell the stolen solar panel.

Gokwat added that the offence contravened the provisions of the Plateau Penal Code.
