Terrorists Kidnap Two University Students in Taraba

Confusion enveloped Wukari town and environs yesterday after some armed terrorists struck and kidnapped two students of Federal University Wukari.

The victims, a male and female from the Microbiology and Economics Departments, were taken in the night, sparking concerns over the safety of students in the area.

The abduction which took place on Monday evening was said to have occurred at a restaurant located in the premises of the university.

Some students who were interrogated disclosed that the armed men, alleged to be of Fulani extraction, stormed the restaurants where one of the kidnapped students was doing a part-time job.

The second kidnapped person, who was identified as a female, was said to have been kidnapped while trying to purchase food from the restaurant.

Confirming the incident, the Chief Security Officer of the institution, Sule Gani, said those abducted were carryover students who were preparing to retake some of their exams.

He however, stated that security operatives have launched a search and rescue operation to ensure the students regain their freedom.

He further urged any person with useful information about the kidnappers’ whereabouts to reach out to the security operatives.
