Nigeria has made significant progress in various sectors during Chief Bola Tinubu’s first year in office, according to George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
Speaking at a ministerial press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday, Akume highlighted the administration’s achievements in economic reforms, infrastructure development, and job creation.
“The government has implemented significant economic reforms aimed at stabilising our economy and fostering sustainable growth,” Akume said. He emphasized that prudent fiscal policies and strategic investments have demonstrated the resilience and growth potential of Nigeria’s economy.
Chief Tinubu has pledged to unlock Nigeria’s economic potential by focusing on job creation and access to capital for both small and large businesses. “Other areas of priority include inclusiveness, the rule of law, and the fight against hunger, poverty, and corruption for the benefit of the people,” Akume stated.
Akume reiterated that the Nigerian economy has shown resilience and potential for growth within the first year of Chief Tinubu’s administration. He added that the government is preparing to introduce new measures to positively alter the country’s economic trajectory.
The SGF highlighted the administration’s commitment to improving national infrastructure, noting several completed and ongoing projects. These include extensive road networks, enhanced rail systems, and the modernization of ports, which are essential for boosting trade and connectivity.

“From the outset, President Tinubu’s administration set forth an ambitious agenda focused on economic revitalization, social inclusion, and infrastructural development,” Akume said. He mentioned that key policies have attracted foreign investments, reduced inflation, and increased job creation across various sectors.
Akume explained that the briefing provided an opportunity to review the progress made under Chief Tinubu’s leadership over the past year. He assured that Nigerians would be informed about the significant steps taken by the administration to enhance the country’s development.
The SGF stressed the importance of making the public aware of the government’s commitments and the programs and projects being pursued. He outlined the administration’s focus areas, which include boosting the economy, creating jobs, improving infrastructure, and ensuring social inclusion.
