UEFA Investigates Prankster’s Sex Noises Heard During Euro 2024 Draw

UEFA has launched an investigation following an unusual incident during the Euro 2024 draw broadcast on Saturday. Sex noises disrupted the live stream as the group stage draw unfolded, with Switzerland landing in Group A alongside Scotland, Hungary, and hosts Germany.

The source of the disruption was later revealed to be YouTube prankster Daniel Jarvis, who claimed responsibility for a similar incident prior to January’s FA Cup tie between Liverpool and Wolves.

Jarvis, broadcasting on X, explained that he rang a mobile phone at intervals to trigger the explicit noises during the Euro 2024 draw on the BBC.

He told viewers: “Listen that was us, that was us. We got it in there, we put the phone in there, we rung it, sex noise at the Euro 2024 draw.”

Giorgio Marchetti, UEFA’s deputy general secretary, attempted to regain control of the situation during the broadcast, assuring viewers that the disruptive noises had ceased.

He said, “There is some noise here that… has now stopped. No noise anymore.”

England manager Gareth Southgate, present at the event, vaguely acknowledged the incident, stating it was challenging to discern the nature of the disruption.

“I’m assuming it was some sort of a prank, but it was hard to really make out what it was,” Southgate stated.

This prank echoed a previous occurrence during BBC’s FA Cup coverage, where presenters Gary Lineker, Paul Ince, and Danny Murphy were startled by similar noises at Molineux Stadium.

A subsequent studio investigation revealed a planted mobile phone, prompting the BBC to issue apologies to offended viewers. Lineker later shared on X that he found it to be a “good prank” and described it as amusing sabotage. #UEFA
