Unless Mediocre is Removed from Governance, Efforts Would be in Vain-Ex NOA DG Warns Tinubu

Ex NOA DG Warns Tinubu

Former Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Dr. Mike Omeri, on Friday, has urged Ahmed Bola Tinubu to reconsider his plans for providing enduring governance for the sake of Nigeria and Nigerians, or else be ready for total disappointment.

The former NOA DG stated in his statement urging the president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, that the reason why national progress has not advanced is because competent Nigerians have been sacrificed for those who win elections or are given the chance to determine the direction of the nation, and have nothing to offer.

“I am aware that many are longing for improvements to their lives and the lives of their communities. There are politicians who arrive with promises and those who have ideas. And most of the time, those who make promises win elections without having any idea on how to bring people together for the benefit of society.”

He went on to say that the primary obstacle to the country’s advancement is that politicians enter politics with little understanding of the purpose of the institutions, and that their only concern is what they will obtain from office.

“Politicians who win elections are there to make it; they have no understanding of the institution. As someone once observed, politics has turned into a business that people flock to, forgetting that, four years later, they become regular citizens and must face the promises they made but never kept.”

In addition to pleading with officials at all levels to restore the country’s traditions and ideals, the former NOA DG asked them to lessen the emphasis on appointments being made on the basis of personal connections if progress was to be achieved.
