Protesters who identify as indigenes of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and various civil society groups descended upon the National Assembly complex in Abuja, demanding the immediate resignation of Nyesom Wike as Minister of FCT.
Under the banner of the Network of Civil Societies for Economic Sustainability, the protesters labeled him as “incompetent” and accused him of lacking vision for the FCT.
Addressing the crowd, the group’s convener, Adamu Matazu, passionately called for a thorough investigation into he’s actions, particularly focusing on land allocations. He asserted, “We stand united to express our concern over the direction of the FCT under the watch of Wike. It is abysmal and disturbing for the FCT to become an epicentre of controversy due to the misguided actions of Wike, which not only undermine Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda but also cast a shadow on the credibility of the Federal Government.”

Matazu emphasized that Wike’s inefficiency in fulfilling his duties contradicts the vision of the administration and called for his immediate resignation.
The group accused him of being insensitive and stated, “While the Federal Government has been calm and calculated in its reforms, he has been insulting the collective sensibilities of FCT residents and Nigerians in general.”
The coalition urged decisive action to contain what they perceive as Wike’s excesses.
