Manchester United has announced that Anthony Dos Santos will return to training in the coming days and will be available for selection.
The Brazilian has allegedly been accused of violently abusing his lover, which has kept him away from returning to Manchester United in the last few weeks. The player is now back to join his teammates and will continue his football appearances.
The winger held an interview and pleaded not guilty to the claims against him. Since then, no legal arrest or action has been taken against the player. The assaulted lover holds her position, but until it becomes legal, Anthony will continue his duty at Manchester United.
On Wednesday, he flew to Manchester to be interrogated by the police. However, the club has cleared him to play, pending a police investigation into the issue.
A statement on the club’s website reads, “Since allegations were first made in June, Antony has co-operated with police inquiries in both Brazil and the UK, and he continues to do so.”
“As Antony’s employer, Manchester United has decided that he will resume training at Carrington and be available for selection while police inquiries proceed. This will be kept under review pending further developments in the case.”
“As a club, we condemn acts of violence and abuse. We recognize the importance of safeguarding all those involved in this situation and acknowledge the impact these allegations have on survivors of abuse.”
Manchester United will host Crystal Palace at Old Trafford on Saturday. It is unsure if Anthony will feature, but it’s all a matter of time before he gets back on the field.
