Chicken Theft Lands Two Friends in Jail

Two friends, Abdul-Alim Adam, 26, and Salim Rabiu, 23, have been sentenced to three months in prison each for the theft of eleven chickens.

It was reported that the event took place in Plateau, where the two broke into a compound and stole chickens from their coop.

Police prosecutor Inspector Monday Dabit told the court that Hassan Abdullahi reported the theft to the “C” Division police station, and the offenders admitted their roles in the crime when the police conducted an inquiry.

The accused entered a guilty plea and begged the court for mercy before the presiding judge, Shawomi Bokkos, delivered the punishment.
The judge gave the guilty parties the option of a N50,000 fine in addition to the jail sentence. The estimated value of the pilfered hens was N44,000.
