LASTMA Averts Diesel Fire Explosion in Lagos

Operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) successfully prevented a potential explosion from a tanker carrying diesel products that toppled over, leading to the spillage of its contents on the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway earlier today.

The incident occurred around 6:10 a.m. at Obadeyi before Ijaye when the tanker driver lost control of the vehicle due to a brake failure. The driver fled the scene immediately after the accident.

LASTMA officials arrived at the scene promptly and prevented another fire explosion by chasing away scoopers and cordoning off the area.

The Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA, Mr. Adebayo Taofiq, confirmed the incident in a press release. He said that LASTMA had diverted traffic at Ahamadiya by both Ahamadiya Hospital Way and those moving against those from toll gate.

He also appealed to motorists to exercise patience and obey traffic officials while efforts were being made to remove the fallen tanker and clear the road.

He assured the public that LASTMA was committed to ensuring safety and orderliness on Lagos roads at all times.
