A resident of Egbatedo Street, Tope Ajise, recounted the events leading to the fatal incident. “It started as an argument the night before. By morning, we heard that Taiwo had stabbed Monday. It was all because of N2,500. Monday had lent him the money and came to ask for it. That’s when Taiwo picked up a knife and stabbed him. Unfortunately, Monday bled to death,” Ajise said.

Another local, Taofeek, commented on the general state of the area and the suspect’s lifestyle. “Taiwo and many others here don’t have a serious source of income. They just move around, tax people, and eat. It’s a case of joblessness leading to such incidents. As they say, an idle hand is the devil’s workshop,” Taofeek remarked.

An anonymous resident, close to the deceased’s family, confirmed Taiwo’s arrest by members of the Yoruba vigilante group, the Oodua People’s Congress. “They were friends, and it’s sad it ended this way. The Oodua People’s Congress caught Taiwo and took him to the police. He’s now at the Abattoir Police Station,” the source revealed.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest and ongoing investigation. “The suspect, Taiwo Badejo, has been arrested. The case is now with the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti,” Hundeyin said.
