307 Suspects Nabbed in Abuja Hideout Raid

In an operation targeting criminal hideouts, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command apprehended 307 suspects along the Dei-Dei -Zuba axis. Led by Commissioner of Police Mr Benneth Igweh, the raid on Sunday resulted in the arrest of 293 males and 14 females.

Igweh, addressing the media on Monday, disclosed, “The suspects were apprehended in a marked black spot, ‘Gidan Dambe’, in the Dei-Dei-Zuba axis, known as a rendezvous for kidnappers from various neighboring communities.”

The crackdown, executed by the newly-inaugurated “Operation Velvet,” targeted notorious areas within the territory. Among the seized items were an English Pistol with 15 live rounds, motorcycles, assorted drugs, suspected Indian hemp, various handsets, and other weapons. Valuables believed to be stolen were also recovered.

Igweh emphasized, “Those operating illegal ‘Gidan Dambe’ establishments must cease harboring criminals or face legal consequences.”

Upon completion of screening and investigation, the suspects will be charged accordingly.
